Mumbai, May 24: A day after the country gave a resounding mandate to BJP-led NDA in the Lok Sabha elections, actor Vivek Oberoi took a dig at Congress president Rahul Gandhi and said that it is not one's name that speaks, but one's work.
Taking a dig at dynastic politics and addressing himself to Congress president Rahul Gandhi, he told a news agency, "Yahan pe aapke baap ka naam nahi, aapka kaam bolega (Here it is not your father's name that will speak, but your work)".
Son of veteran actor Suresh Oberoi, Vivek's latest venture is the biopic 'PM Narendra Modi' in which he plays the eponymous character. The film hit theatres on Friday May 24.
Vivek Oberoi also asked Rahul Gandhi and other senior Congress leaders and opposition leaders to watch the film and be inspired and take lessons from his life to become good leaders.
He urged people to celebrate Modi’s victory by watching his biopic in the theatres and said that they will feel patriotic by the end of the film.
"PM Modi being re-elected shows that people respected the good work. Today people in India see the work the leader has done and not the lineage he come from," he added.
The movie which was originally supposed to be released on April 11 was stayed by Election Commission of India (ECI) on April 10 after complaints by the opposition parties. The release was then scheduled for May 24 by the EC.
Directed by Omung Kumar, the movie also stars Zarina Wahab and Barkha Bisht Sengupta.
