Panaji, May 27: All the four newly elected members of the legislative assembly during the recently held by elections will be sworn in on May 28, Speaker Michael Lobo said.
The swearing in ceremony of all the four MLAs — Subhash Shirodkar (Shiroda, BJP), Dayanand Sopte (Mandrem, BJP), Joshua DSouza (Mapusa, BJP) and Atanasio Monserrate (Panaji, Congress) will be held on May 28 at 11 am, Lobo said.
The acting Speaker will give oath to all the MLAs at assembly complex.
In the recently held by elections, Monserratte had won on Congress ticket from Panaji assembly constituency where election where necessitated due to the death of then chief minister Manohar Parrikar. The election for this seat was held on May 19.
The three other by elections in Mandrem, Mapusa and Shiroda Assembly constituencies were held on April 23. BJP candidates had won in all these three assembly constituencies.
As per the current status after by elections, BJP has largest 17 members followed by Congress with 15. Goa Forward Party and Independents are three each while MGP and NCP have one member each.
