Beltangady: Friends turn foes – Two arrested for ITI lecturer's murder

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, May 29: The local police have succeeded in arresting two accused relating to the murder of ITI lecturer. The murder had happened at Kotikatte Road in Mundoor in the taluk. The police have come to know that the victim was killed after he was intoxicated. They have also questioned another suspect, Avinash, who was a friend of the deceased.

The murder-accused were close friends of Vikram Jain. Prima facie, the police have found during their initial investigation, that Nagesh and Deekayya had planned the murder well in advance and executed it as per plan. Nagesh had asked Vikram to bring liquor for the trio to have it together. Vikram bought liquor from a bar at Santhekatte and came near Kotikatte, where all the three shared it. The other two encouraged Vikram to consume more liquor, which heavily intoxicated him. They had guessed that unless he is heavily drunk, it would be hard to kill him easily, as he was well-built. Once they realized that Vikram was not in a position to retaliate, they stabbed him in the right side of his abdomen with a knife and hit his neck with a machete before escaping. The locals who found the body lying at Kotikatte, informed the police at 6.30 am.

Vikram was unmarried and reportedly was in love with the daughter of Nagesh Poojary's paternal aunt. During the questioning the police gathered that both had taken up the matter with their respective families and got their approval for his alliance. There is suspicion that Nagesh would have harboured enmity against Vikram relating to this matter.

Another angle for the murder is property. Vikram has 15 acres of land adjacent to land belonging to Deekayya. It is likely that Deekayya was eying to usurp this property and probably decided to help Nagesh because of this reason. Locals say that Vikram was well-behaved and had many friends. He was popular in the area. He lived with his 70-year-old mother.

District superintendent of police, Laxmi Prasad, visited the spot along with acting deputy superintendent of police of Bantwal, Nataraj. Sniffer dogs and finger print experts also visited.

It is said that after the murder, the accused had planned to flee to Mumbai via Mangaluru. But the circle inspector of this police station here, Sandesh P G, assisted by other personnel, succeeded in arresting the accused on Monday evening from Byndoor railway station before they made their way to Mumbai as per their plan.

Yes, I do agree with you especially the last part of your comment is very true. No fear of our judicial laws... After sitting in the jail for few months/years, they come out and they can carry out what they want. Vikram is no more.. Mother is old.. Idiot can grab their property.. Same thing happened in Sreemathis murder. Murderer Samson left out of the jail after committing one murder and active involvement of another.. Third time he got full confidence..
