Mangaluru, May 30: The police, who often receive complaints about problems created by smelly and sticky effluents which drip on the road from trucks carrying fish loads, took stern steps against them on Thursday, May 30.

The fish trucks found violating guidelines and allowing effluents to flow out on to the roads were stopped and fined by the police. The drivers of such trucks were also issued strict warning.

The effluents which continue to fall out of the fish trucks not only pollute the atmosphere but also create problems for other vehicles and the general public to move about because of the bad odour they spread around. Many a time, they also spoil the clothes worn by people and vehicle riders.

Based on various complaints received about this problem, the police department had issued directions for such trucks to follow. They were asked to arrange for storing the effluents flowing out into bins arranged below the fish load.
