Mangaluru: Man tears banner on MLA Bharat Shetty's water supply vehicle

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, May 31: The banner on a water supply vehicle launched by Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharat Shetty was torn by an unidentified person here on the night of Friday May 31.

The person not only torn the banner, but also allegedly verbally abused the vehicle's driver.

It is learnt that the man, said to be a hotelier, confronted the driver Bharatraj and alleged that the water was being supplied to only specific areas and not all. "If you want to distribute water do so for all the areas. It is not fair to supply water only to some areas and not others," he reportedly told the driver.

This led to an altercation between the two, with the hotelier tearing off the banner on the vehicle and allegedly insulting the driver.

ACP Srinivas Gowda and Suratkal inspector Ramakrishna arrived at the spot and conducted inquiries about the matter.

In the wake of water shortage in the city, MLA Bharat Shetty has been distributing water to the people of his constituency on his own initiative.

The water supply was for the residents with limited quantity. We must understand that, in a truck how many gallons of water can carry? Hotelier may required more water. I am not against the person but at the same time he himself understand the situation. We must not politicize in this case. Now In Mangalore water crisis are there. We all help each other for the needy people and unite all the communities and live together.

    Leave all political issues aside.

    Thanks

The people's representative, be it an MLA or an MP or the Prime Minister should be fair and just to all the people and not to any community or caste or locality.

Strange and one sided reactions from people.. The report says the hotelier claimed the water is supplied to particular residents. Now his claim can be wrong too.. He may have prejudiced intention like few common modi bashers here..a small banner torn still people are not satisfied until dragging Modiji s name into it. Sincerely guys take a break
