Sensex, Nifty hit record highs

Mumbai, Jun 3 (IANS): The key Indian equity indices created new benchmarks on Monday with the Sensex hitting a record high level of 40,283.54 points.

The Nifty50 on the National Stock Exchange touched its fresh all-time high of 12,081.85 points.

The surge was on the back of a rally in oil and gas, metal, banking and finance stocks. All the sectoral indices traded in the green during the day.

Analysts said that oil and gas stocks rose due to easing crude oil prices.
