Jet employees meet new Civil Aviation Minister


New Delhi, Jun 4 (IANS): Grounded airline Jet Airway's employees met new Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri here on Monday and handed over a memorandum regarding its revival.

"A delegation of six @ShivSena MP's led by Shri Anil Desai accompanied by representatives of Employees' Union of @jetairways came to see me. They handed over a memorandum regarding revival of Jet Airways," Puri said in a tweet.

Civil Aviation Secretary P.S. Kharola was also present in the meeting.

Among the group of employees was air hostess Nidhi Chapekhar, a survivor of the 2016 Brussels terror attack.

Having run out of cash, Jet Airways had suspended operations On April 17, impacting thousands of employees, lessors, vendors and passengers.

Lenders of Jet Airways led by state-run State Bank of India are currently in the process of selling the airline to recover their dues of over Rs 8,400 crore.

    Many airlines are under loss due to inappropriate operating model.

    Indigo and Spice jet I think are doing fine with their budget model.

    Air India is also a loss making airline. Who is bearing this loss? We the tax payers.

    If Govt intervenes it should make Jet airways a budget airways and make it workable. Otherwise we tax payers will have to bear the loss of Jet airways.

    Mr.Modiji do something to these 20000 staff which is not their fault they lost their jobs ! If you are real concern on voters you should intervene and sort it out and help the poor people as you claims ! SAB KE SAATH SAAB KA VIKAS

    Naresh Goyal family friend of gandhi family. Had pressured earlier bjp government to bail out jet airways same like king fisher airlines. Heavy investment done by D-Gang on jet airways...thru third party...after close of East West Airlines.
