Mumbai, Jun 6: An airhostess, in her 20s was allegedly tortured and raped by a gang of three, including her colleague and his roommates, in an apartment in Mumbai on Monday, said the police. As per the victim’s complaint, three men and a woman were present at the apartment while the incident happened.

Police said the victim and the accused Swapnil Badoniya (23) worked in the security department of the same airline company.

Police said they are investigating further on the role of the other two men in the case, senior police inspector Nitin Alaknure of the MIDC police station said “So far we have learnt that Badoniya was the only person who forced himself on her. However, we are investigating the role of the other roommates in the crime.”

As per police record, the complainant arrived in Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at around 7 pm on Monday. She met Badoniya in the airport and they travelled in the same car. She then dropped Badoniya near a mall in Malad and went ahead to drop her luggage at home and returned back to the mall, where the accused was waiting for her. “They both then went to a bar and consumed alcohol until the bar closed. The complainant herself admitted that she doesn’t remember anything after throwing up inside the bar,” said a police official.

“Badoniya decided not to send her home since she is too high on drink and tried to check-in into a hotel; however, seeing their condition no hotel allowed them rooms. Badoniya then suggested her to go with him to his apartment, which he shared with two other men,” said the police.

As per complainant’s statement two of Badoniya's roommates and a woman were present in the apartment near Andheri when they reached. Taking advantage of her situation, they assaulted her and raped her one after the other.”

After waking up in the morning at around 10 am, she realised that she was brutally raped by the gang and found injury below her eye and marks on her shoulder, said sources. However, Badoniya claimed that he was too drunk to remember anything.

“Her father tried reaching her the whole night, but she did not answer calls. A friend found her in a McDonald’s near Jogeshwari, where she was with Badoniya,” said an officer.

The incident came to light after her father asked about the injury marks; he rushed her to hospital after knowing about the incident. Following the information from the hospital authorities, the MIDC police registered a case under relevant sections of gangrape and assault. The police tracked and arrested Badoniya at around 7 am on Wednesday at his apartment.

She was still with the culprit the next day at Mc Donalds?? Doesn't look like rape to me. She just feared her father and must have assumed things. The damage to the eyes can have happened on the drunken night out from falling and bumping into things. Unless proven guilty, we should not jump to conclusions and lynch the guy.
