Bihar, Jun 6: A group of Muslims who had gone to offer namaz on Eid were shot with bow and arrows by Tribals who thought they have come to grab their land.
According to Dainik Jagran report a group of Muslims went to a tea estate near Dhiabari village on Wednesday to offer Namaz on Eid. The Tribals thinking that the outsiders have come to grab their land, attacked them with traditional weapons of bow and arrow. More than 23 people were reportedly injured in the attack and one person who was shot on the chest is in a critical condition and is admitted in MGM hospital.
The local police had to use lathis on the mob to bring the situation under control. It was also reported that the police officials burnt huts belonging to the tribals who in turn torched and damaged police vehicles. Incidents like these are common in the lands bordering the state of Bihar and West Bengal.
The tribals claim that they are deprived of land to cultivate and are not included in any government schemes.
