Panaji, Jun 9: The India Meteorological Department on Saturday said the monsoon is expected to hit the state by June 13. Some parts of the state will start receiving rains in next three days.
As per TOI report, IMD officials said “The arrival of the rainy season will depend on the intensity of the monsoon current, so we cannot conclude anything as of now. But it could hit the state by June 13. We are expecting light to moderate rainfall on Sunday along with thundershowers. After that, there will be less of thunder and more of continuous rain.”
“It is almost the near-onset of monsoon, so rainfall will be at many places, about 50-60% of the state,” officials added.
On the IMD Goa website it has forecasted a thunderstorm with lightning and gusty winds of up to 40-50 kmph at isolated places on Sunday.
“Goa will receive some rainfall owing to low pressure system forming in the South-East Arabian Sea. If the system stays in the same place, we can expect heavy rainfall by June 10, 11, 12. We have therefore issued a weather forecast for these three days only,” an IMD official said as per TOI report.
