Rahul Gandhi hits out at Yogi Adityanath for arresting Journalist in UP

Daijiworld Media Network (SR)

New Delhi, Jun 11: In a scathing attack on Yogi Adityanath over the arrests of journalist accused of defaming him, Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday tweeted “If every journalist who files a false report or peddles fake, vicious RSS/BJP sponsored propaganda about me is put in jail, most newspapers/ news channels would face a severe staff shortage.”

The tweet was made in the wake of the arrest of journalist Prashant Kanojia on Saturday for sharing an objectionable post along with a video against the UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Twitter and Facebook. In the video, a woman is seen speaking to reporters claiming that she had sent a marriage proposal to the  CM.

Kanojia’s wife later moved the Supreme Court and condemned the arrest was illegal and unconstitutional. The apex court is at present hearing the case.

Well Said Rahul Ji. “If every journalist who files a false report or peddles fake, vicious RSS/BJP sponsored propaganda about me is put in jail, most newspapers/ news channels would face a severe staff shortage.”.

The Supreme Court is the only Hope left for the citizens. But Alas for the Rich and the Influential. What about the common man and the lower courts if what the Supreme Court has observed of remand for 11 days for such cases is unheard of in which case we are heading towards Kangroove Courts.

The nation thanks to the Supreme Court for upholding Free Speech Rights, Orders Immediate Release of Prashant Kanojia. The bench, however, rejected the UP state’s standing, saying it was against personal liberty. The court said that while it did not “appreciate his tweets,” it questioned whether he could be “put behind bars for that”.

Justice observation also appreciated for further questioning the 11-day remand order, asking: “Is he accused of murder?”

“Posting a video clip in the public domain, which has been carried as a news item in major media outlets is no offense. Furthermore, to add a comment by way of a hackneyed one-liner “love cannot be hidden” is hardly defamatory or a crime warranting police action.”

If journalist Prashant Kanojia one-liner comment “love cannot be hidden” if objectionable, then BJP IT cell should hide its face which abuse who women who are critical to its parties policies.
