Chennai, Jun 11: A CCTV footage of a woman falling from a moving SUV onto the road has gone viral and widely shared online. The woman in the video, Aarti Arun, 38, has now alleged that she was pushed out of the car by her husband and his parents last month and they were trying to kill her.
Aarti claimed that she and her children were staying apart from her husband Arun Jude Amalraj for a long time due to his abusive behavior, and the incident took place soon after she joined him believing his promise of a fresh start.
Arun and his parents are absconding and they been charged for murder attempt. It is reported that the couple had a turbulent relationship since their marriage in 2008. Though Aarti moved back to her parental home in Mumbai in 2014, she thought about reconciliation after five years of separation. Upon her husband’s request, the reunited family went for a holiday to a resort in Ooty.
The much awaited holiday trip became a nightmare for Arthi, when her husband again turned abusive and assaulted her. Aarti claims the trouble continued even after they returned back to Coimbatore on May 9. Arun, in spite of maintaining his written promise of keeping his parents away from her, brought them in his car. When Aarti questioned him about this, he got provoked and pushed her out from the car. She had injuries on her head, shoulders and knees.
As per NDTV report Aarti says, "They want to kill us. It's heart wrenching and life threatening. My son saw his dad outside his school and is traumatised. They could target my children. How do I go out to earn my living? Police say he is absconding. There has to be timely justice".
Initially police registered a case of criminal intimidation and later charged the man and his parents for attempt to murder.
"The family is absconding. Our teams went to Chennai once but then, they were absconding. We were told they are in Trichy (Tiruchirappalli) but they were not there as well. We are on the lookout for them. Once they are arrested, the law will have its course," Sujit Kumar, a senior police officer in Coimbatore said, as per NDTV report.
