Bhopal, Jun 15: In a startegic move made by the Transport Department of Madhya Pradesh, a new rule for the safety of two-wheeler riders was announced. A directive was released which makes it mandatory for the citizens to first purchase helmets before registering their vehicles.
The riders will be required to submit the receipt for the helmets only after which they will be allowed to register their vehicles.
The Transport Department, communicated the same to the two-wheeler sellers who are now required to provide two helmets to each of the buyers in the state.
In India one of the major reasons for deaths are road accidents. This step taken towards the safety of these two-wheeler riders is a means to ensure minimization of risk.
Further, more stringent rules and regulations toward four-wheelers and two-wheelers are expected to be established in the country.
In September 2014, the court had issued directions in this regard. Transport Department had even tried to make sure that the said regulations were being followed. Unfortunately, the orders were never diligently followed.
