Abu Dhabi, Jun 20: As a relief to expat UAE parents, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, on Wednesday announced that UAE residents can now renew the residency visas of their 18-year-old dependent sons for upto two consecutive years.
As per the new rule, the residence permits of 18-year-old dependent sons, whether they are secondary school or university graduates will be valid for a year and can be renewed for an additional year.
An 18 year old can avail this benefit from the date of completion of secondary education or immediately after graduating from a university.
The authority also said, as per the new benefit, parents will not have to pay the required deposit of Dh 5,000 to apply under humanitarian appeals.
To boost the countries tourism industry, the entry visa fee for visitors and tourists aged 18 or below is also scrapped by the UAE authorities for this summer season.
