Rain halts Australia's demolition of Bangladesh


Nottingham, Jun 20 (IANS): Australia were cruising at 368/5 when rain stopped play with one over to go in their innings, in their World Cup tie against Bangladesh on Thursday.

For the Aussies, David Warner smashed 166 off 147 balls (14x4, 5x6) while skipper Aaron Finch continued his good form with the bat to score 53 off 51 deliveries (5x4, 2x6). Usman Khawaja also contributed with a brilliant 89 off 72 balls, hitting ten fours.

Part time medium pacer Soumya Sarkar picked up three wickets for Bangladesh giving away 58 runs in eight overs.

When heavy showers halted play, Alex Carey (9 not out) and Marcus Stoinis (6 not out) were at the crease.
