Lucknow, Jun 21: In a fierce action against corrupt officials, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday warned, "If officials cannot work in an honest manner with the policing system, they will be forced to take voluntary retirement. The corrupted officials are like a blot on the police uniform, they will either go to their home or to jail."

Yogi’s warning came in the wake of central government’s strict action against senior income tax officers on charges of corruption and professional misconduct. Central government dismissed 12 top officials including a joint commissioner rank officer against who there were serious complaints of corruption and extortion from businessmen accused of helping self-styled godman Chandraswami.

The chief minister also urged the officials to speed up actions on issues related to promotion, filling up the vacancies and retirement of the employees. He promised to start a biometric system in the secretariat along with strengthening of IGRS monitoring system to add more transparency and a positive image of the government among people.
