Motorcycle-borne youths jump checkpost in J&K's Anantnag

Srinagar, Jun 21 (IANS): CRPF troopers fired in the air on Friday when two motorcycle-borne youths jumped a security checkpost in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district.

Police sources said the motorcycle-borne youths jumped a security checkpost on K.P. Road near the post office in Anantnag town despite being signalled to stop.

"CRPF jawans manning the checkpost fired a few shots in the air. The area has been cordoned off for searches," police sources said.

Five CRPF troopers and a station house officer (SHO) of the state police were killed in a 'fidayeen' attack on K.P. Road by a Jaish-e-Mohammed militant on June 12.
