Panaji: Huge hoardings in Goa to be replaced by uniform signage

Panaji, Jun 22: Goa government on Friday announced that they will have special policy to have uniformity in the signage.

The Heritage Committee of State Town and Country Planning (TCP) Board which met on Friday has decided to come up with comprehensive policy on the issue of uniformity in signage within next two weeks.

State TCP minister Vijai Sardesai said that the existing hoardings which have come up across the landscape of the state are eyesore which needs to be replaced with uniform signage.

Sardesai said that Heritage Committee of TCP has already submitted its suggestion on this topic, which would be considered while forming a policy.

“We will be meeting on July 5 to discuss the policy after which it would be referred to Indian Institute of Architects and other stakeholders,” he said.

Sardesai said that the models adopted by other states while deciding the signage will also be considered before finalizing Goa policy.

He said that Chief Architect of State Public Works Department has submitted certain guidelines for conservation areas. “But I have asked them to give guidelines for all over Goa,” he added.
