Coast Guard recruitment centre soon in Uttarakhand


Dehradun, Jun 23 (IANS): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Sunday announced that a Coast Guard recruitment centre will soon be set up in the hill state.

It will be the country's fifth Coast Guard recruitment centre after Noida, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, the building for which will be built at a cost of Rs 37 crore.

Besides Uttarakhand, youths from other states such as Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh will also be benefited by the new recruitment centre in Dehradun, Rawat said.

The Chief Minister's announcement came after Coast Guard Director General Rajendra Singh handed a letter from the Centre for the project to him at his residence here, an official statement said.

Rawat will lay the foundation stone for the recruitment centre at Kuanwala in the city on June 28.

The entire cost of the project will be met by the Centre, it said.

Thanking the Centre for sanctioning the project for Uttarakhand, Rawat said it will generate new employment opportunities for the youths in the Coast Guard.
