Five detained, over 30 questioned in S. Delhi triple murder

New Delhi, Jun 25 (IANS): Probing the murder of an elderly couple and their maid in south Delhi, Delhi Police have detained five people, including boyfriend of the maid and his accomplice who are the key suspects in the case, a police officer said on Monday.

The triple murder came to light on Sunday when a local resident informed the police.

The victims were identified as elderly couple Vishnu Mathur,78 and Shashi Mathur, 75, and their maid Khushbu who lived in Vasant Vihar area.

According to senior police officer, they have formed ten teams to probe the case while they have detained Khusbhu's boyfriend from Laxmi Nagar and his accomplice from Greater Noida.

"Apart from the detention of the five suspects, we have questioned over 30 people, including the neighbours. We found that the maid's boyfriend's phone was switched off the entire night while he had called her at least 5 times in just half-an-hour before switching off," said a senior police officer.

Police have also found out that the mobile phones of the deceased were also off around 2 a.m. on the night of the incident.

"We suspect that the elderly couple was murdered first then the maid was attacked. We are collecting the call data recorder and the dumped data of their phones," said the officer.

Police have scanned the CCTV footage of the locality and have found some clues. Further investigation is under way.
