15 aides of gangster Kapil Sangwan held


New Delhi, Jun 26 (IANS): Delhi police have arrested 15 accomplices of wanted gangster Kapil Sangwan and recovered nine pistols and 65 live cartridges from them.

"A team headed by ACP Manoj Pant got a tip-off that some accomplices of gangster Kapil Sangwan would gather at a social event near Goyala Dairy in Najafgarh. The police nabbed the 15 accused on Monday night. Nine pistols, including four semi-automatic UK and China-made, were recovered from them," Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) A.K. Singla said.

"The accused were identified as Vineet,28, Rahul,25, Vasudev,23, Sachin,22, Surender Kumar,22, Chirag,22, Pradeep Sehrawat,22, Abhishek,23, Deepak,22, Naveen,22, Naveen,25, Vickey Dagar,26, Rohit,23, Nishant Dagar,27 and Paramjeet,35. They are residents of different areas of Delhi and Haryana," Singla said.

"During interrogation, the accused admitted to their association with the Sangwan gang, and that had gathered at the Goyala Dairy to celebrate a social occasion. Kapil Sangwan is involved in several cases of murder, attempt to murder, extortion, criminal intimidation and possession of illegal firearms registered against him in Delhi and Haryana," said the police officer.

Kapil Sangwan was in jail since 2016 and was released on Monday," the officer added.
