New Delhi, Jun 26: Earlier this week, a man bludgeoned his friend with a brick, just so he could marry his wife. On Tuesday, police officials were able to arrest the accused.
The accused has been identified as Gulkesh. On the intervening night of June 24-25, the accused called his friend Dalbir (30), the deceased, to a railway track near Zakhira. Once he spotted Dalbir, he went upto him and attacked him on the head with a brick until he was unconscious. Gulkesh, then picked the body and threw it on the tracks so that it could cut into pieces, according to police sources.
Once the deed was done, Gulkesh called the police officials and said that he suspected a body of an acquaintance lying on the tracks and directed the police to the location.

The police state that there was a lot effort on Gulkesh’s part to mislead them during the preliminary investigation.
The investigation regarding the death of Dalbir was carried out and a police interrogation where they checked Gulkesh’s mobile phone. The accused sensing that he would get caught, broke down and admitted to the crime. Gulkesh detailed his crime and said that he killed Dalbir just so he could marry his wife with whom he had an illicit affair. When Gulkesh asked her to marry him, she refused to leave Dalbir. The accused felt that unless Dalbir was killed there was no way to unite with the wife, this led him to plot the murder of his friend.
The police are still investigating whether there was any accomplice in the crime. They are also looking into whether there was any role played by Dalbir’s wife in his death.
