INLD's lone Rajya Sabha MP joins BJP

New Delhi, Jun 26 (IANS): A day after two Indian National Lok Dal legislators of Haryana switched to the BJP, the party's lone Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Ramkumar Kashyap on Wednesday too joined the saffron party.

He joined the BJP in the presence of BJP working President J.P. Nadda.

He cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies as reasons for his joining the BJP.

INLD's Nuh legislator Zakir Hussain and Julana's Parminder Singh Dhull on Tuesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in Chandigarh in the presence of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and state BJP chief Subhash Barala.

The INLD had won 19 seats in the 90-member Assembly in the 2014 state polls. Two of its legislators died subsequently and nine deserted to join the BJP, the JJP and the Congress.

Four legislators supporting the JJP have neither resigned from the party nor from the Assembly.

With the latest two desertions, the INLD's strength in the Assembly will come down to eight.
