Noida, Jun 27: To safeguard women from eve-teasing and other forms of harassment, anti-romeo squad was formed under the Adityanath government. Now, with a view to strengthen this squad, Noida police will issue red cards as warning to men and those found harassing women.
The officials will look into the areas with greater probabilities of offence via residents feedback. This card will serve as a warning to the molesters and if they are found stepping out of line they will face jail time.
“The red card is essentially a non-coercive measure which will serve as warning to those who harass women verbally or non-verbally. The person’s details, including his address and contact number, will be noted in a register for future record. If the person is found committing an offence of this nature again, strict action will be taken. The card is aimed at serving as a deterrent to people who make women feel unsafe,” said Vineet Jaiswal, SP (Rural), Gautam Budh Nagar.

The feedback will be also collected from schools and colleges seeking suggestions from women and girls about where the squad needs to be present. The process will begin from Thursday and the coming weeks will see the police team mapping areas and deploying themselves.
The team will consist of both male and female police officers. Each team will have a sub inspector, the officers will be in official and commoners attire during patrolling to blend in.
