Priyanka raps Yogi government for not clearing sugracane farmers' dues

New Delhi, Jun 27 (IANS): Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Thursday took a swipe at the Yogi Adityanatah-led BJP government in Uttar Pradesh for not fulfiliing its promise of clearing the dues of sugracane farmers in the state.

Priyanka, who's also the Congress in-charge for eastern Uttar Pradesh, questioned if the UP government was really concerned about the farmers.

"The BJP government, which repeated its promise to pay sugarcane farmers, has again ignored them. Someone has to arrange for his daughter's marriage, someone needs to plant the crop.

"Farmers are not receiving money and are suffering. Is the government really concerned about the farmers," Priyanka tweeted in Hindi attaching a newsreport.

The Congress General Secretary during her campaign for the Lok Sabha elections had accused the BJP of not fulfilling its promise of clearing the pending dues of sugarcane farmers in Uttar Pradesh.

    Madame has been given a Government bungalow no. 35, Lodhi Estate on account of Security Grounds, being a SPG Protectee and she pays License fees of Rs. 31,300/- per month w.e.f 01 Jul 2013, though the Market Rent is Rs 81,865/- per month at present. Thus, a subsidy of Rs 50,565/- per month is being given from our tax though Robert Vadra’s networth is USD 2.10 billion (Rs 1,45,60,35,00,000/-) as per Google.
    Similar higher burden we bear from our taxes towards 10, Janpath and 12 Tughlaq Lane.
    If our hard earned taxes were not diverted for such unnecessary non-productive purposes, UP would have have paid all the sugarcane dues with interest and penalty for the delayed period.
    And Madame, charity starts at home. Please persuade Mr Vadra to losen his purse strings for the poor UP farmers.

    I hardly believe that anyone is interested to farmers problem.Otherwise it would have been already take up and pay them.
