Mangaluru: Vanamahotsava programme held at Milagres College

Mangaluru, Jun 28: The Eco club and Life Science Association in collaboration with National Service Scheme (NSS) and Parent Teacher Association of Milagres College, organized Vanamahotsava programme on June 26.

Vanamahotsava has gained national importance and every year, millions of saplings are planted across India in observation of Vanamahotsava week. It creates awareness among students regarding forest conservation, thus helping in reducing pollution.

Denzil Pinto, coordinator of NSS Association welcomed the resource person for the day P Shridhar, range forest officer and the students. P Shridhar educated the students about importance of afforestation and effects of deforestation as well as the problems faced due to them.

This was followed by planting of the saplings by the resource person along with principal Fr Michael L Santhumayor. Saplings were distributed to all students.
