Hyderabad, Jun 28: N V Subhash, grandson of former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao, on Thursday, lashed out at senior congress leader and AICC secretary Chinna Reddy for his allegation against the former PM and sought an apology from Sonia and Rahul Gandhi for ‘injustice’ done to him.
Subhash, while responding to Reddy's statement that the former PM had tried to 'sideline' the Nehru-Gandhi family during his tenure, said it was 'not true and condemnable'. He said, "Rao was the most trusted and loyal leader of the Gandhi family and always guided the family on many issues."
The former PM's grandson is one of the official spokespersons of the Telangana unit of BJP and joined the party in 2014. He said the Congress always neglected the leaders other than those from the Nehru-Gandhi family, especially his grandfather, late P V Narasimha Rao. Subhash told PTI, "It is very clear and evident that his dead body was not even allowed to enter the headquarters of AICC in Delhi. All the former PM's memorial was built in New Delhi except that of Rao's, which shows the indifferent attitude of the Congress leaders."

As per a TOI report, Subhash said that during his grandfather's tenure, he never sidelined or suppressed the Gandhi family. He claimed that on every occasion, Sonia Gandhi was very well informed about the party activities, development initiatives taken up by the government, cabinet expansions, election process, campaign and allotment of tickets in assembly elections. "In fact, on many occasions, Rao personally met Sonia Gandhi and apprised her, but she was neither interested in politics nor wanted her kids to get into politics,” he added.
Chinna Reddy, a former congress minister in the undivided Andhra Pradesh, had also blamed Rao for Babri Masjid demolition which happened in December 1992 during the former PM's tenure and said it alienated Muslims from the party. Responding to Reddy, Subhash said his grandfather had taken all the necessary steps to stop the demolition. "If it is true (that the demolition alienated Muslims from Congress), then how is it possible that the Congress was in power from 2004 to 2014?" he asked.
"Congress leaders always gave credit to Nehru-Gandhi family for success but blamed Rao for party's failures and the party never talked about the economic liberalisation policy initiated by the Narasimha Rao government,” said Subhash.
"At least now, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and the entire coterie of Nehru-Gandhi family and Congress should apologize to the nation for the injustice done to Narasimha Rao," he added.
