Bihar Assembly monsoon session begins amid uproar over AES

Patna, Jun 28 (IANS): Bihar Assembly's monsoon session began on Friday with the Opposition protesting outside the Vidhan Sabha over the death of more than 175 children due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in the state and demanded the resignation of state Health Minister Mangal Pandey.

The Opposition MLAs also protested against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

MLAs from the Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) gathered outside the Vidhan Sabha since morning holding huge posters and placards.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) legislator Bhai Virendra demanded Pandey's resignation saying he was insensitive to the criticality of the situation.

CPI-ML protesters said the Health Minister was more keen to find out the cricket score of the India-Pakistan match than acting to prevent the spread of AES.
