Councilor in Bihar assaults 2 women, tonsures them for resisting rape

Patna, Jun 19: Mohammad Khurshid, a ward councilor in Bihar, along with his henchmen assaulted two women mercilessly for resisting his rape bid. A barber by profession, Khurshid along with his three aids ‘punished’ a 48-year-old woman and her 19-year-old daughter by shaving their heads and parading them across the Vaishali village here.

All the accused were arrested by the police on Thursday after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

Bhagwanpur police said the assailants allegedly entered the victim’s house and attempted to rape the daughter. When the mother managed to rescue her, the accused physically assaulted the two women.

As per Hindustan Times report, Sanjay Kumar, station house officer (SHO) of the Bhagwanpur police station confirmed the incident and said that the matter is under investigation. He said that half a dozen people barged into the victims’ house and attempted to rape the daughter. After the mother tried to rescue her daughter, the accused physically assaulted the two women by dragging them outside the house and beating them with wooden sticks.

Kurshid even held a ‘panchayat’ and called a barber to shave the women’s head and paraded them across the village. The daughter in her statement to the police said “Around 6.30 pm, half a dozen armed men forcibly entered my house and attempted to rape me. When my mother tried to save me, they started beating us."
