Bhopal, Jun 28: A strange case of alcohol consumption has fazed the family court in Bhopal. A couple who has been married for over 10 years are facing strain in their relationship because of alcohol. The husband in this matter is having trouble getting his wife to drink liquor at family get-together along with the other family members.

According to counsellor, Shail Awasthi, the fights started few years back when the wife constantly turned down the offer to drink at family gatherings. The counsellor further said that the family did not belong to high society nor was wealthy, rather the husband’s side of the family, including the mother, aunts and siblings drank during such occasions.

The couple has three children together, aged nine, six and four. The wife was apparently never keen on consuming alcohol as her side of the family has always abstained themselves from it. She also said that she did not wish for kids to think of her as an alcoholic. Following the constant refusal, the fights got intense with the passage of time as the family continued to question her choice of skipping alcohol and opting for fruit juice or soft drinks.

Seeing the fights getting out of control the couple then approached a counsellor as neither of the two agreed to compromise. The husband and his side of the family were then advised to not coerce the woman in consuming the alcohol if she was against it.
