Coast guard recruitment centre for Uttarakhand

Dehradun, Jun 28 (IANS): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Friday laid the foundation stone for a coast guard recruitment centre in the Kuanwala area here.

It will be the country's fifth coast guard recruitment centre after Noida, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. It will be built at a cost of Rs 42 crore.

"We are thankful to the Prime Minister for this centre. Besides Uttarakhand, youth from other states such as Himachal, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh will also avail the benefits of the new recruitment centre.

"It will generate new employment opportunities for the youth," Rawat said.

The Chief Minister on Sunday had made an announcement regarding the coast guard centre after coast guard Director General Rajendra Singh handed a letter from the centre for the project to him.

The entire cost of the project will be met by the Centre, top officials said.
