Delhi government holds mega state-level earthquake drill

New Delhi, Jun 28 (IANS): The Delhi government on Friday organised a mega state-level mock earthquake drill across government offices in the capital.

For the mock drill, held across 66 locations in Delhi, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited the Central Command Room to review the state-level earthquake response.

The government later said the drill, carried out in coordination with the National Disaster Management Authority, was successful.

However, the drill caused some inconvenience to people visiting government offices to get their work done as they found that official work had stopped due to the exercise.

A couple named Irfan and Tohni had gone to the Saket Sub Divisional Magistrate's court for their marriage registration.

They were called by the marriage registrar on Friday but found the office closed. They said no notice was given to them about the drill in advance.

Similarly, several others who went to different offices found that officials were not working due to the drill.
