Mangalore, May 20: The city received welcome showers on the night of Tuesday May 19. The downpour that started off at around 6.30 pm was initially intermittent. It gained momentum around midnight, to again turn into drizzle later, that continued till the morning on Wednesday May 20.
The city wakes up late and movement of people and vehicles, barring early morning walkers, resumes intensity only around eight in the morning, with school and college buses ruling the roads at that time. The office goers start commuting at around nine.
But Daijiworld contributor Sphoorty Ullal, who got up early in the morning was amazed at the crimson red and purplish sky, providing a grand backdrop to the green coconut trees. The little drops of drain seem to have satiated the thirst of the coconut fronds that reach skywards to rake in the sunshine and rain drops. The hue in the backdrop changes to orange as time passes. As the citizens sleep, nature bathes in delight, tickled by the morning sun.
The pictures were taken near Thokkottu on the outskirts of the city, at around 5.45 am on Wednesday May 20. The situation appears to be perfect, rain drops splattering on the earth, sun trying to wake up, his rays creating a painting that roughly reflects a rainbow.
The scene is celestial, proving to be delightful for connoisseurs of nature's beauty. But who is there to enjoy it? Those who have to report for duty early, rush to their jobs without having time enough to feast their eyes, while housewives are busy preparing break fast for the family members within the confines of their homes. If one fails to take in morsels of the early morning joy, nature has nothing to lose.
