Digital India empowered people, reduced corruption: Modi

New Delhi, Jul 1 (IANS): Calling the Digital India initiative a "people's movement", Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said it has empowered people, significantly reduced corruption and improved public service delivery to benefit the poor.

"On this day four years ago, Digital lndia was launched, to leverage the power of technology and make technology more accessible. Digital India has empowered people, significantly reduced corruption and improved public service delivery to benefit the poor," Modi said in a series of tweets.

He said the initiative was a "people's movement", powered by the citizens' strength and their efforts to learn as well as innovate.

"I salute all those assiduously working to strengthen Digital India and wish them the very best for their future efforts," he added.

There are MLA's with checkered character and past. The way they are flocking into BJP clearly illustrates, corruption is not reduced. It is concentrated and moving to a regime, with the high chances of legitimizing it.

Congress when it comes to any of the leader getting caught in a scandal, crime or corruption, it lets the individual defend himself or herself. Though behind the door it could have pressed some buttons to go a bit easy. BJP is other way round, they defend them very very strongly, irrespective of visual evidences for public to see.

Come to Banglore. Not a single person is using cash now a days. Everywhere paytm and other apps. Starting from barber shops to hotels, petrol pumps, grocery shops etc. As a result no one carrying cash. Pick pocket cases reduced.

Cash should stop in gov't offices, builders etc and not from barbers. Barbers have to pay service charges for these transactions and again they are losers.
