Chikkamagaluru, Jul 2: A youth, who was trying to click a selfie from atop a roadside falls near Bidiruthala on Charmadi Ghat had a free fall down 150 feet after he lost his balance. The incident happened on June 30, and the youth has survived with serious injuries.

The youth has been identified as Sathish from Neriya in Beltangady taluk. He had arrived at Charmadi Ghat along with some friends on Sunday evening. On sighting a falls that was located by the roadside, the youngsters scaled to its top. Sathish, when trying to capture a selfie, lost his balance and fell down. A tourist at that time was recording video. The fall of the youth has become viral in social media.

Satish, who suffered critical injury to his head, stands admitted into a private hospital at Mangaluru. A number of people are in the habit of standing atop falls which emerge during rainy season, and take selfies. In the recent past, three from the region have lost their lives to the selfie craze.
