Mangaluru, Jul 3: The Konkan Overseas Returnees Welfare Association (KORWA) conducted its 8th Annual General Meeting on June 30 at Olives, Bliss Roof top, Kadri.

Outgoing president Jessie Pinto welcomed the gathering and provided an overview of the activities carried out and events conducted by the association for its members during the year. She stated that the events included medical camps, hospital visits, Christmas celebration with 800 underprivileged orphan children, donations to school fees, medical aid etc, during the year, which was appreciated and approved by the members.

Treasurer Elias Sanctis presented the financial report for the year2018-2019, which was accepted and approved by the members.

Just before election, president Jessie Pinto thanked wholeheartedly to all the managing and executive committee members for their remarkable contribution during the term of 2017-2019.

Archie Menezes, senior member, conducted the election for president and managing committee for the term 2019-2021. As there were one nomination for each post in response to the AGM notice, the floor unanimously elected Elias Sanctis as the new president and other managing committee were also selected.

Elias Sanctis accepted the prestigious post with grace and assured to do justice to the post and thanked the members for selecting him as president.

All the members congratulated the newly elected president and the rest of the managing committee.

Lancy D’Souza, newly elected general secretary, rendered the vote of thanks.
