495 additional posts created for newly carved Ladakh division


Srinagar, Jul 3 (IANS): The state administrative council (SAC), which met on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Governor Satya Pal Malik, approved creation of 495 posts of various categories in different departments in the newly carved out Ladakh division.

Giving details of the posts created, Rohit Kansal, principal secretary planning and development told the media, "Already posts of a divisional commissioner and an inspector general of police (IGP) have been created for the Ladakh division.

"The SAC today approved creation of 495 additional posts for the two districts of Leh and Kargil in the Ladakh division.

"These include posts of 12 Directors, 4 Chief Engineers, 4 Joint Dir ectors, Chief Conservator of Forest, Regional Wildlife Warden and other senior positions.

"Over 470 more posts at different levels and belonging to a variety o f departments have been created to support the Directorate and Chief Engineer Offices that will be now established in the Ladakh division.

"These posts were approved by the SAC following the recommendations o f the committee formed to look into the administrative and developmental requirements of the division.

"The committee in its recommendations has emphasised that the placement of a particular office at a district is on purely administrative basis a nd will in no way deprive the public of any of the districts from the due services of the offices which are not based in that district".
