Udupi, Jul 4: The students’ council of St Mary’s College, Shirva for 2019-20 was inaugurated on July 1 in Saude Sabha Bhavan.

Fr Vincent R Crasta, secretary, Catholic Educational Society of Udupi diocese inaugurated the students’ council by lighting the lamp. In his inaugural message, Fr. Vincent R Crasta stressed the need for value based citizen of the country. “Students need to inculcate the values and good behaviour and acquire the knowledge by adopting discipline in life. They need to cultivate the thinking capacity, faith, confidence and leadership qualities. We can be good citizens when we live with goal in life,” he said.

Fr Denis A D’Sa, the correspondent of St Mary’s and Don Bosco institutions, in his presidential message focussed on self identification. “Every one of us has valuable hidden calibers. This is the time to discover self and flourish them. One needs to be creative to be unique among others,” he said. While congratulating all the leaders, he urged them to be creative and dynamic to make institution and the campus more vibrant. He urged all, to be the partners of growth by giving their best by adopting the formula of success.

Prof Melwin Rego introduced the guest. President elect Branson Wilfred Monis welcomed the gathering. Principal Prof Rajan V N administrated the oath to the leaders. Secretary of students’ council Supritha S Shetty rendered the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Sonisha Mathias of third BCom. Assistant parish priest Fr Ashwin Aranha, vice president of parish pastoral council Wilson D’Souza, student welfare officer Prof Vittal Nayak, sports secretaries Prasad G and Shruthi were present.
