Raghav Chadha moves HC challenging LS poll defeat

New Delhi, July 5 (IANS): AAP leader Raghav Chaddha on Thursday moved a petition in the Delhi High Court challenging the results of Lok Sabha election held in South Delhi constituency in May earlier this year.

Chadha, in his plea, stated that the winning candidate and BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri "wilfully" concealed the facts about registration of an FIR against him in Bihar's Muzaffarpur.

The FIR against Bidhuri was registered under Section 504 (intentional insult), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation),153 (provocation with intent to cause riot) and 153(a) (promoting enmity between different groups) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The AAP leader alleged that Bidhuri did not divulge the source of his income.

"The BJP leader ex facie declared false incomes in respect of his income, his spouse's income, as well as his of one of his dependants," the petition said.

Bidhuri won the Lok Sabha elections from the constituency, beating Chadha by a margin of over 3.6 lakh votes.

The matter, slated before a single bench, will be heard on June 5.
