Man arrested for raping minor in Delhi


New Delhi, Jul 5 (IANS): A man has been arrested for raping a five-year-old girl in Delhi, the police said on Friday.

According to the police, the incident took place on Tuesday afternoon. The accused identified as Nanhey, a resident of Bulandshahr, allegedly lured the girl with and took her to a deserted area in Dwarka'a Sector 23 area.

"After raping her, he left her and fled. Locals spotted the girl coming out of the deserted area and informed the police. She was rushed to the hospital where doctors confirmed rape. A team was formed to find out the family of the girl. After appropriate efforts, the parents of the girl, who work as daily labourers, were found," said a senior police officer.

A case was registered and during investigation, police found a CCTV footage of the area where Nanhey was seen holding the hand of the girl and walking out of the area.

"Search was launched and Nanhey was arrested on Tuesday evening from Dwarka," the officer said.

According to the police, the man was an alcoholic and kept doing odd jobs.
