Mangaluru, Jul 6: “The country is facing several issues such as drought and excessive temperature. Programmes similar to environment protection should be held in order to obtain freedom from such issues,” said Gopalakrishna temple, Shaktinagar managing trustee K C Naik. He spoke as chief guest at a programme held at Shakti Residential School in association with green Mangaluru here.

“It is necessary to emphasise to the modern generation the importance of concern and protection of the environment,” he said. He set the programme in motion after planting a sapling.

Students of each class conducted the programme meaningfully by planting saplings.

School principal Vidya Kamath G, Shakti Education Trust management official Bykadi Janardhan Achar and development officer Naseem Banu were present.
