Several JSIA students bag placements

New Delhi, Jul 9 (IANS): With an average pay package of Rs 6-7 lakh per annum, several students of India's first global policy school, Jindal School of International Relations (JSIA), have bagged placements this year.

The post-graduate students of the institute were hired by organisations such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Climate Group, SHOOGLE TGES, Global Counter Terrorism Council, Max Securities, Grid 91, Chase India, Human Rights Law Network, Mitkat Advisory, Red R and Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC).

"With designations such as analysts, consultants, research assistants, teaching assistants and geopolitical risk analysts, the students were hired for pay packages of Rs 6-7 lakh per annum approximately," said Sreeram Sundar Chaulia, Dean, JSIA.

"Right from the outset, JSIA's main objective has been to continually generate and spread interdisciplinary social science knowledge with an emphasis on rigorous academic training of qualified graduate students. JSIA's illustrious alumni is its backbone with steady and strong industry relations," Chaulia added.

JSIA regards itself as India's first global policy school. According to the website of the institution, it is the first masters degree awarding graduate school in any Indian university to date which explicitly combines the scholarly weights of three inter-related disciplines -- international relations, international law and international business.

"This holistic ‘global policy' approach stands apart from traditional approaches to studying world affairs, which were largely confined to the sub-field of political science known as international relations.

JSIA offers world class inter-disciplinary education that connects a completely new mega-discipline that can be labelled as ‘global policy studies' or ‘world affairs studies'," said C. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Jindal Global University.

According to a press release issued by the JSIA, more than 40 organisations have expressed interest in the bachelors and masters degree students of JSIA this year for placements and internships.
