Panaji, Jul 9: The Goa University, on July 9, will conduct the final spot admissions for postgraduate programme seats left vacant at GU and affiliated colleges. The varsity had previously conducted four rounds of the Goa University Admission Rankings Test (GU-ART).
The spot admission round will take place on Tuesday starting 11 am and will be held for 33 PG and one graduate programme for which seats are still vacant. Students were instructed to be at the venue at Goa University and five affiliated colleges by 10.30 am.
The Goa University official said “All candidates who will be selected on July 9 may note that the last date for verification of documents is July 10 by 4pm.” After the final counseling round scheduled on July 9, incase any seats remain vacant the Goa University and affiliated colleges will fill up the available seats on July 12 after 11.30am, based on the order of rank allotted to the student at the GU-ART, on a first-come first-serve basis. Goa University notification stated “No parents/guardians will be permitted in the spot admission hall unless approved by the University authorities. All candidates are requested to carry copies of their marksheet, receipt of seat confirmation fees (paid if any). Candidates selected by the university will be enrolled after the round if they are fulfilling all the eligibility criteria of enrollment.”
Students who have not cleared all the qualifying semesters of his or her degree programme, will be given provisional admission to the PG seat, however, the student will have to pay Rs. 5,000. The university official said “If such a candidate fails to clear the backlog of the qualifying examination, he/she shall be ineligible to continue the programme, and the seat shall be forfeited and the Rs. 5,000 paid by them shall be refunded.” In case of reserved category seats, if no candidates are available then these seats will be opened and filled from the general category based on the order of student’s rank at the GU-ART.
