Members miffed as Qutab Golf Course to levy 'guest' charges on spouse and kids

New Delhi, Jul 10 (IANS): The Qutab Golf Course (QGC) has issued a notice to levy 'guest' charges on spouse and kids of the members who do not have dependent playing rights.

The notice issued by the club's management has left a section of the members miffed.

"The use of the clubhouse is restricted to those having playing rights of QGC. Spouse and children who do not have dependent playing rights would be charged a guest fee of Rs 200 every time they avail the facilities of the clubhouse," the notice said.

Opposing the notice, some members termed it as 'perverse' and 'atrocious'. A letter to scrap the notice has also been issued to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) which runs QGC.

"Paying money as guest charges is not the issue. The issue is a matter of principle. Husband and wife are joint members of any family unit as per the Delhi Development Authority Act. A spouse is the better half and the word 'guest' terms him or her to a lesser role," said Ajay Agnihotri, a former revenue services official, who is also a member of the golf club.
