Kapil Sibal slams BJP for Karnataka crisis

New Delhi, Jul 10 (IANS): Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal has come down heavily on BJP for the Karnataka crisis and blamed it squarely for destabilising the state government.

"On one side, they (BJP) talk about eradicating corruption but on the other hand what we are seeing is different. Everybody knows what is happening in Karnataka. People know what they did in Goa, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur," the veteran leader said.

The Rajya Sabha member noted that the Karnataka issue was now a national issue and hence it was being rightly raised in the Upper House.

The Karnataka political crisis rocked the Rajya Sabha yet again on Wednesday with the House being adjourned twice amid uproar on the issue. The House had been adjourned on Tuesday too as Congress members repeatedly stalled the proceedings over the matter.

The political crisis in Karnataka has been deepening over the last few days where dozens of ministers have resigned and many members of the ruling JD-S-Congress alliance were learnt to be willing to switch sides. This has threatened the future of the HD Kumaraswamy-led state government.
