New Delhi, Jul 11: All the ten former Goa Congress MLAs, who had joined BJP on Wednesday night, met party’s national working president J P Nadda in New Delhi on Thursday. In presence of Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant, the MLAs were formally welcomed into the party by Nadda.
BJPs Goa unit president Vinay Tendulkar accompanied the MLAs to the national capital.
Later in the evening, the MLAs are also expected to meet party’s national president Amit Shah.
Ten Congress MLAs led by Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar had merged their faction with the BJP on Wednesday evening. All the MLAs had submitted a written letter to Speaker Rajesh Patnekar, informing him about their decision to join the BJP. With the induction of new MLAs in BJP, the party's strength has gone up to 27 in the House while congress has been reduced to mere five.
