Delhi: Woman shot at in Dwarka

New Delhi, Jul 11 (IANS): A woman was shot at by bike-borne assailants in a west Delhi locality, the police said on Thursday.

The police identified the victim as Kiren, who was allegedly shot at by two bikers near Radisson Blu hotel in Sector 12 Dwarka.

"A PCR call was made around 8 a.m. A team reached the spot and found her car had hit the footpath. We have found two empty bullets from the spot," said a senior police officer.

According to Shekhar Lal, a witness, first he thought that it was a sound of the Bullet bike.

"When the car hit the divider, I realised that someone had fired. I saw two bikers and a pillion rider fleeing," said Lal.

Initial investigation has revealed that Kiren, a housewife and a part-time property dealer, was alone in the car when the incident took place.

"She has received a bullet injury in her neck and is battling for her life. It has also come to light that the woman had a family dispute," the officer said.

Officials of Venkateshwar hospital, where she is admitted, stated that she was brought to the hospital around 8:15 with a bullet injury in her neck. "We have removed the bullet. Her condition is critical," said an official.

The family members of the victim suspect the involvement of her husband Varun Yadav in the case.

"They have had issues for the last one-and-a-half years. We suspect her husband's involvement," said Pankaj Saxena, victim's brother.

The police are scanning the CCTV footage of the area.
