3 killed in Tripura road accident


Agartala, Jul 14 (IANS): At least three people were killed and another injured in a road accident in Tripura's Dhalai district on Saturday, police said.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sabyasachi Debnath told IANS that a speeding passenger vehicle, with four people aboard, skidded off the road and hit a tree, killing two occupants on the spot.

Two other passengers were seriously injured and one of them succumbed to his injuries in the hospital later.

The accident took place at Manik Bhandar in Dhalai in northern Tripura, 90 km north Agartala, Debnath said, adding that due to heavy rain, the road was very slippery.

The surviving passenger is now being treated in a government hospital.
