Over 1,700 foreign observers registered for Ukrainian snap polls


Kiev, Jul 16 (IANS): The Ukrainian Central Election Commission (CEC) registered over 1,700 official observers from international organizations and foreign countries for the snap parliamentary election which will be held on July 21.

"Thus, on July 15, the Commission completed the official observers' registration process for the snap elections of people's deputies of Ukraine held on July 21. A total of 1,719 official observers were registered. In particular, 1,602 official observers from 22 international organisations, 117 official observers from 12 foreign countries," Xinhua news agency quoted CEC officials as saying.

A total of 2,321 foreign observer came to Ukraine in 2014 for the last parliamentary elections.

Snap parliamentary elections set on July 21 were originally scheduled for October but were brought forward after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dissolved parliament on May 20.
