Tehran, May 31 (DPA): Security officials in Iran have defused a handmade bomb found on board a domestic flight headed to Tehran from the southwestern city of Ahvaz, the Fars news agency reported Sunday.
"About 15 minutes after the plane carrying 131 passengers took off late last night from Ahvaz (in Khuzestan province) to Tehran, onboard security forces found a handmade bomb in the plane," the agency reported.
The plane landed immediately in Ahvaz airport and the bomb was defused, the report said.
Reza Jafarzadeh, the spokesman of state aviation organisation, also confirmed the incident and called it a terrorist plot.
Iran blames the US and Britain for backing terrorist activities aiming at destabilising the Islamic country by creating discord between different Iranian ethnics and religions. Washington and London deny the accusations.
